This is insane! After mentioning how great 1990 “Koo Gum (ill-fated couple)” was in my “Kwang Returns” post, Ascandaloussin mentioned there was a better one. It’s not a lakorn but rather a movie of “Koo Gum”. My first thought was, “there was a Koo Gum movie, really?”
Then, I finally saw it when Sara provided the youtube link at the comment section of my “Kwang Returns” post. Thanks ladies for the heads up. I would have missed this awesome movie. Yes, pra’ek is freaking Hot Hot with a capital H.
I always thought that 1990 “Koo Gum” lakorn was the original and now I know, it wasn’t. Two “Koo Gum” movies came before the 1990 “Koo Gum” lakorn.
Lets break it all down.

ooo..hmm..ive never seen any of the versions before.i started on num and benz.but i thought it was boring so never finished it.i watched donut’s and dan’s though!.but i didnt really follow it though..i wanna joy and pol’s version..love them.haha
this is interesting to see so many versions of it. You should do more on others lakorns that were remade over the years. I never really watched any pf this version, but I did try the ones with dan and num.
This remine me of the Movie called Sayonara (American movies). It is very classic love story between an American soldier and Japaness dancer woman.
I thinks Kwang and Bird version of Koo Gum is better than Num and Benz.
koo gum is a classic!! the first one i ever saw was the one with warut when i was a kid. he was so good looking, my very first crush as a kid. when i got older i actually tried researching him but nothing came up. then i saw his later lakorns and he was…thicker…hahahah…not like the kobori i liked, still he has to be the best looking kobori ever. jintara and warut had amazing chemistry. the second one i really loved was the one with Bird Thongchai and Arpasiri Nitiphol. the movie. the ending made me cry so bad. and for the first time i thought bird matched someone. i totally loved the music. then bird speaking japanese made it way better. as a kid, i didn’t know the difference between thai and japanese, they were asians so i thought they spoke the same, besides i watched a dubbed version. bird was practically fluent in japanese and i thought that movie gave the best effort in showing us kobori as a japanese person. bird must really love playing kobori, he’s played it twice. i would watch the other versions but i hate re watching the same story over and over again.

WTH? There’s a musical?! I think the Bird and Kwang version was the best. I still cry every time I watch the ending. Why couldn’t they just be together, sheesh. Thanks for the outline. I would have never known about the musical.

Even though, I love Sornram, I’d have to say that it doesn’t beat how HOT HOT HOT! Warut was in his movie. I still cry watching it.

I never watched the version with Kwang and Bird. I guess I should watch it now…but the version with Waroot, he actually look really cute when he was younger. I saw him for the first time in a lakorn with Kwang and he was NOT cute. Geez, what a change the years did to him.
Anyone ever saw the movie version with Joy and Pol? I never heard about that one.
The one with Jintara Sukkapat and Warut Worrantum is my all time favorite Koo-Gum Films..Warut isss sooper hott..But, wow..he did change a lot!!..But man, He was stunning back in the 80’s. Hey, so have Warut made any other movies or lakron?? Cause i would love to watch them. Ummm..we have the one with Bird, and Kwang Koo-Gum.. I didn’t really enjoyed that one much though. I have watch most of the “Koo Gum” versions, but I’ll say “Koo Gum” with Jintara and Warut is the best and my all-time favorite thai movie. I love Jintara, I think she is a great actress and very beatiful, even now she still is beautiful. Like ppl said, I think they have a GREAT chemistry together and he is soooooo HOTT. I still watch it over and over again, cry my butt off, and fall/drool in love with Kobori.
WOW you found a recent picture of him!!!!!! I could never find anything on him (pout,pout). ummmmm he still looks………. handsome, he got a nice structure face XD. GOSH he sure was sooo hot when he was younger, wish could of seen more of him in movies or lakorns. I thought Aum in “Lom Huan” (later in the lakorn) kinda looked like Warut in “Koo Gum”, maybe it’s just me.

Of course you gotta be sure that my all time favorite is the one with Jintara Sukkapat and Warut Worrantum.. I could watch this one over and over and over and over again and could never be bored of it.. and not just that, i’ll still cry over it.. I find all the other ones kinda boring.. I like this version cos they went straight to the point, and not just that, DANGGGGG p’ek WARUT WORRANTUM is sooo freakishly HOOOOOOT!!!!!!!.. I still drool all over him whenever i watch this movie!!! i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM!!!! and i soo adore Jintara in this one!

Tabitha.. I saw part two with Pol and Joy a very long time ago, so i really can’t tell you how it is.. but from what i do remember, i do like it very much.. But of course it’s not as good as part 1 w/ warut..
Dude! Is that really Warut?!? OMG I have to watch the movie now..I only use to watch lakorns and not movies back in the day’s so I never got a chance to see but I did hear of it. I do remember Warut being a hottie back in the day’s but not this hot..the one significant lakorn I remember is La Ong Dao with Sirium..he was pretty good in that.

Forgot to mention Warut was also in the most rescent Ann and Pepper lakorn Saw Ban Rai Kub Nai Haiso, he played as Ann’s father..I remember there was a time he was host to this one game show that was really good, ugh I forgot the name tho.

Not only thai ppl love their KOOGUM, i love my KOOGUM. i have all the version except #1, 8,AND 9. my most favorite have to be the one wth waruth and jintara, they are so hot together, they’re like my harit/soriya stranded in a inbetween love/war era. then follow by Bird/Kwarm. i love how Bird portray Kobori and how feisty Kwarm is as ANGSUMARIN. the movie of pol/joy is okay, dan/donut’s version goes accordingly to the movie, just a slight different but i would prefer the one of joy/pol more than dan/donut even though i’m a dan/donut fan too
.. the one of benz/num is good too but num doesn’t look japanese nor mix so it’s hard for me to like him in there plus the way he speaks japanese is a bit erh but i still like it b/c Benz really is awesome in there. As for Bird’s japanese, i agree, he speaks as if he know japanese. i can’t never get sick of this movie/lakorn being remake, even if 40 years from now, i would still love it. thanks for bringing the memory back ^^
Koo Gum is one of my all-time favortie lakorn. It’s romantic…sweet…and sad. I first saw the 1980s movie starring Jintara Sukkapat and Warut Worrantum when I was a kid. It was translated and so the translation was very bad, couldn’t hear them, but I could still understand the plot. I liked it alot. Then now they translated the Benz and Sornam version and I loved that one. IT’s alot of part but I enjoy it. I love her character, strong will…I would say too strong will and Sornam was just a sweetheart. I did heard about Bird’s version…but since I don’t understand Thai, I couldn’t watch it. I really do so if anyone know where I could watch it was subtitle, please tell me. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to watch it. Bird Thongchai is an awesome man.
Love Warut! The only Koo Gum that I actually watched was the one with Warut and Jintara. As a kid I remembered how much I idolized Warut after watching Koo Gum. I love his lips…pouting and adorable at the same time…awww….. This movie was the first movie that got me interested in watching Thai movie/lakorn. The only thing I didn’t like about the story is that it’s not a happy ending which I’m a sucker for it.
Too bad he’s disappeared from Thai entertainment industry for so long.

You are right on! I saw many versions of Koo Gum, but the one of jintara and warut was the best one. He is super hot and I love the movie. It was the first version that I saw and then the other versions followed after, but none of them are as good as the one with Jintara and Warut.

I love all versions of Koo Gum except the movie movie starring Bird Thongchai and Arpasiri Nitiphol. In my opinion, Arpasiri did not fit the role of Ang like the other nang’eks did. Bird was super hot in there but I didn’t like it. The best movie would have to be the one with Jintara and Mr. Hottie Warut.
Warut&jintara version is my favorite too. Warut played his part so well in there and he’s so hott just as you said. I too can watch this movie over and over again. I wish that the quality of this would just be a little better. Do you know of any recent movies or lakorns with Warut? He’s still hot even after all these years.

All of the pra’ek in the past Koo Gums are all very hot in their own hot ways!!! My favorites would have to be the one with Num, Bird, and my favorite of them all is the one starring Jintara Sukkapat and Warut Worrantum! He was such a CUTIE PIE in this version!!! These three just make the storyline even better……….
